Toby in action and photo of one of the pups

Peter Hargreaves - Thursday, March 18, 2010

Kevin Brown kindly sent me a video of Toby - a golden retriever once owned by me -  of him still picking up. Toby was always a special dog and it is a real pleasure to see that he is still doing what he enjoyed. Watching it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up as he still thrives on working. It is always nice when my dogs go to nice homes and Kevin has provided an excellent home. Toby is avaiable for stud and Kevin and I have already discussed using Toby on Maggie this year

Enjoy the video it is on the stud dog page

David and I are going to start a very basic video series of training the basics into a young dog.

Note this is only intended for people who are new to the hobby but they will be worth watching as newcomers may pick up a tip or two, also bear in mind that they are going to videoed by me so do not expect them to be of a good quality but they will show the basics and get interested people thinking!! If anyone has any questions regarding training please refer them to David, his number is on the gun dog training page Read Full Post

Puppy Update

Peter Hargreaves - Monday, March 15, 2010

Finally, after 7 weeks, a lot of hard work it is almost time to say good bye to the pups. I am keeping several and it is a very hard decision on which ones to keep as they all have their own personalities. I have spent hours studying and watching them but still cannot make my mind up.

It is going to be quite interesting when the new owners come and try selecting one!!

This year is flying by but now it is time to start the hard back to basics with the "big" dogs. Undo all the bad habits learnt on picking up days I am always surprised how easy it is to forget the basics but realise that this is so important to get the dogs back into "competition" mode.

Janko is coming along nicely now that we have overcome the language problem, a bit giddy but still only 12 months old. I will be entering a few of the summer working tests this year just to see how all the dogs are getting on Read Full Post

Puppy update

Peter Hargreaves - Thursday, March 04, 2010

As of today there is only one female left for sale. A little update on the "pack"

There is a really nice female in the litter almost white  (which is why she is standing out as all the others are dark) with very dark red ears. At this early stage she has  loads of personality, cocky and looks up for it.

For the people that have sent the deposit and are looking for a female let me know if you are interested in her Read Full Post

Matt Byrom - Wednesday, February 24, 2010

I am constantly getting asked by people if I would help them train their gundogs so I have decided to develop a training program designed for the complete novice handler and dog. The aim is to develop confidence with the intention of having a trained dog that if you wish will compete at test level. For Gundog training information call our professional dog trainer David on 07786116747. Read Full Post
