Nordenlights Goldens look like most working Golden Retrievers, which means they vary in size, colour and coat texture. They are almost nothing like the show-bred golden. Our Training Philosophy We use a particular line of Golden Retrievers that mature quick and take and enjoy the pressure of learning from a young age. It is not uncommon to have a 6 month old Golden Retrievers on our picking up teams just to gain the experience before the serious training begins. I work closely with the dogs using a click and treat. This system has the ability to bring out the best in a dog and most importantly the dogs enjoy it. Anyone purchasing one of my dogs can be assured that they have had to best training possible. We train to trial as this is my passion but not all dogs can get to this very high standard and it is these dogs that we sell to approved working homes. I am always ready to give advice to anyone interested in purchasing one of my dogs and I am quite happy to export abroad to interested people. They make the perfect dog for guns who want a steady dog at the peg with them. They are also excellent picking up dogs with good game finding abilities. Our dogs start from just £4000 however this cost will easily be recovered as the dogs have had such superb training and have an excellent temperament they will always be demand for stud work. This currently is approx £300 and I am always ready to give advice on this. Nordenlights dogs are picked for the following characteristics: Dark colour Sound temperament Focussed and driven Enjoy working Excellent companions Italian Import Approximately four years ago I went to Italy (Milan) and arranged to import a puppy from a golden retriever dual champion. After 10 months the bitch puppy was brought into the country. Through an accidental mating the dog had a litter of 11 puppies with a Greenfoot dog I had in my kennels at the time. I did not realise that the dog (sire) was only 13 months old! It then was not the right time for me to have a puppy so I kept a bitch puppy and gave it to my mother in law. Four years on I have mated this bitch to a local golden retriever. I have known the owner of the sire for around 15 years and the dog is fast, has plenty of style, picks up runners and is very exciting to watch. I now have a litter of 4 puppies, 2 bitches and 2 dogs. The sire owners have taken a bitch puppy. This is a very unusual mating but it is my hope to see if I can produce good hard working dogs that are away from the usual working lines gene pool… This is going to be quite interesting and only time will tell if it works.
