My policy is to have a number of Golden Retriever dogs being trained to field trial competition standard at any time. We have 5 dogs in training at the moment. These dogs have been carefully chosen with the view of competing and winning at field trials. However, only a few Golden Retrievers ever reach the very high standard required to win at field trials. If you want to play the game, we have to compete against Labradors. I am fortunate to train with a group of people who all have Labradors. If you are interested in purchasing a fully trained working golden retriever that would make a perfect gentleman's peg dog or picking up dog, I will train a dog to your exact requirements. Depending on the dog it could take 15 months to train to a standard that it will be steady to shot and respond to your commands. All dogs are sold with a hip score and eyes tested. Dogs have been trained to pick up game. I will give a demonstration of the dog at a ground of your choice. Clicker Training Recently I spent a day with Philippi Williams learning how to apply clicker training when training dogs. I was extremely impressed with how responsive the dogs became and have now introduced this method in my training. Expect to pay just around £4,000 - £5,000 for a fully trained dog.
